Nature walk at Mountain Lakes - 2 pm

"Seeking Ecological Balance at Mountain Lakes"
led by Steve Hiltner, FOPOS' Natural Resources Manager

Friends of Princeton Open Space (FOPOS) is sponsoring a nature walk at Princeton's Mountain Lakes Preserve on Saturday, March 4, 2pm, entitled “Seeking Ecological Balance at Mountain Lakes”. The walk will be led by Steve Hiltner, Natural Resources Manager for FOPOS.

Planning is underway to begin restoring habitat at this scenic preserve, where peaceful forests mask the dramatic changes wrought by invasive species. While sharing tips for identifying plants in the winter, Steve will discuss the benefits and challenges of restoring habitat, and the positive role people can play in bringing back native diversity.

Concerned about the maintenance of the Mountain Lakes Preserve as habitat for plants and animals and for passive recreation, FOPOS recently created the position of Natural Resources Manager. Steve has experience in prairie and wetland restoration, and degrees in botany and water quality.

Meet at the parking lot for Community Park North and Pettoranello Gardens, just off Route 206 on Mountain Avenue in Princeton Township.  For more information, call (609) 921-2772.

PLEASE NOTE:   Some areas may be wet; boots or waterproof shoes are suggested.
